FAQ

How long is a typical session?

Almost all sessions last 50 minutes; however, this is always discussed and planned for ahead of time.

How do I pay?

The easiest way to pay is by credit or debit card.

After the first session, if you choose, your card information can be securely stored and automatically charged after each session.

How do I schedule an appointment?
You can call me at (831) 480-5292 or email me at chris@chrisgreertherapy.com.
Do you offer online counseling?
Yes, I do offer online counseling through a secure and confidential videoconferencing platform as long as you are located in California.
Do you offer an initial consultation?

Yes, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation prior to the first appointment.

This phone call allows both of us to learn a little bit about each other to determine if we are a good fit and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have for me.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellations, otherwise you will be responsible for the full fee.
What age range do you work with?
I generally work with adults 18 years old or older.
Do you work with Women? Men? Couples?
I do work with both men and women. Generally, I do not work with couples because it is just not my strong suit. If you are looking for a couple’s therapist and I do not feel as though I would be a good fit, I’m happy to refer you to one of my colleagues in the area.
What do you do in sessions with clients?

I believe in promoting the self-determination of each and every client. This allows us to examine any pressing obstacles that the client may be facing, while using the previously identified goals as a roadmap.

In doing this, the client decides what is important to discuss and is able to achieve their goals.

Do your clients receive assignments to work on in between session?
This really varies from client to client, depending on their personal preference. Some people enjoy receiving assignments, in which case, yes. Others despise assignments, in which case, no.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
I pull from a lot of different modalities, which include CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment, and EMDR.
What is your professional training and experience?

My undergrad studies were done at William Jessup University and focused on psychology and addiction studies.

I graduated with my Master of Social Work from University of Southern California. I have worked at a local non-profit supporting people struggling with Substance Use Disorder and people who have been involved in the criminal justice system.

Do I have to lie on the couch?
Only if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, I am not a medical doctor, which means I cannot prescribe medication.
